Ferrari Challenge at Imola a very italian affair

Fans gave a warm reception to the return of the Ferrari Racing Days at Imola’s renovated Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari. The final day of the event drew a big crowd to the Italian circuit, to watch the F430s competing in the Italian and European series of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli, as well as admiring the historic Formula 1 cars prepared by the F1 Clienti Department of Maranello complete some un-timed laps.
In the main category of the Italian one-make series, Marco Mapelli took his second win of the weekend, in a race that saw the Safety Car on track for much of it, after an accident at the start. The Rossocorsa driver finished ahead of Dario Caso (CDP) and Riccardo Ragazzi (Ineco/MP). Among the gentlemen drivers in the Coppa Shell, Stefano Gai won the third race of the season, crossing the line ahead of Massimo Mantovani (Motor/Malucelli) and Eugenio Amos (Ineco/RAM).
The second race of the European one-make series ended with a win for Max Blancardi. After winning Race 1 yesterday, the Italian Motor/Malucelli team driver was back on the top step of the podium again, ahead of Austria’s Philipp Baron (Baron Service) and Bjorn Grossmann (Autohaus Gohm). As for the F430s in the Coppa Shell, victory went to Italy’s Peter Reichegger (Rossocorsa/Pellin) followed home by Hungary’s Tibor Valint (Warm UP) and Frenchman Yannick Mallegol (Motor/Piacenza).
