The Super Trofeo series will debut at Adria - RAGING BULLS TO BE UNLEASHED AT ADRIA

Sant'Agata Bolognese: 13 May 2009

The world’s fastest one-make series, the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo, will make its debut at the Adria International Raceway, Italy, on 15-16 May 2009. With only a few days to go, drivers are preparing to get behind the wheel of the 570 hp Super Trofeo race cars to take to the 2.7 kilometre Italian track.
The Super Trofeo will visit European circuits across six race weekends, including Norisring, Spa-Francorchamps, Silverstone, Catalunya and Paul Ricard, supporting the world’s finest sportscar series, FIA GT, Europe’s most popular touring car championship, DTM, and the British F3 and GT Championships.
Drivers compete in identical Gallardo LP 560-4 race cars, equipped with Lamborghini’s V10 5.2 litre ‘Iniezione Diretta Stratificata’ engine and four-wheel drive system. Professional and ‘Gentleman’ drivers will contest in three ?40-minute races during the race weekend.
“Debuting the Super Trofeo series at Adria, supporting the FIA GT, creates an excellent start to what we hope will be an outstanding season,” said Manfred Fitzgerald, Director of Brand and Design for Lamborghini. “Adria is perfect for the Super Trofeo. With the passion and heart of Lamborghini, the Italian setting will be fitting for what we are confident will be a successful debut weekend.”
Fifteen drivers are confirmed for the first meeting of the mono-marque series including former Formula One test-drivers Marco Apicella and Jonathan Cochet, FIA GT Champion and DTM competitor Uwe Alzen, 24 Hours of Le Mans class winner Peter Kox and endurance racing veteran Alexander Frei. Also competing will be FIA GT3 competitor and Formula 3 Euro Series Rookies’ Champion, Erik Janiš.
