Two F430 on podium at Silverstone, domination in Spain

Over the last weekend the F430 GT2 took part in the season’s first FIA GT Championship and Spanish GT Championship races, while on the other side of the Atlantic the same cars, in the Challenge version, took part in the third race of the North American Ferrari Racing Days, held at the Californian Infineon race track.
At the English race track of Silverstone five cars from Ferrari could be found under the first six cars in the GT2 class, at the end of the first race of this year’s FIA GT Championship. Ferrari couldn’t win the race due to a mishap 15 minutes before the end of the race. The AF Corse car driven by Gimmi Bruni had to come back to the box after a contact with a lapped car, which destroyed the AF Corse’s suspension. This cleared the way for Richard Westbrook/Emmanuel Collard with their Porsche 911. Place two went to Matias Russo and Luis Perez Companc (Pecom Racing) and Robert Bell/Andrew Kirkaldy (CRS Racing). The series’ next race will be held at Adria on 16th June.

At Valencia, this season’s first appointment in the Spanish GT Championships was dominated by the F430 GT in both races, thanks to an exceptional double win by Ricardo Bravo – Lourenço Da Veiga. In race one the ASM Team drivers crossed the line ahead of the Porsche 997 with Miguel Angel De Castro - Miguel Amaral and the Ferrari with Peter Sundberg – Juan Manuel Lopez (RSV Motorsport), while in race two they were faster than the F430s with Manuel Cerqueda – Alan Sicart (Automobil Club D’Andorra) and with Luis Villalba – Francesc Gutierrez (Motor Competicion). The Spanish GT Championships will be back on the Spanish track of Jarama on the weekend of 7th June.
Meanwhile the races at Houston’s Infineon circuit in California - on the occasion of the third Ferrari Racing Days - were an enormous satisfaction for Ferrari thanks to the wins gained by Mark McKenzie and Richard Fant in the two races. The North American Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy’s fourth appointment will be held on the weekend of 28th June, at the spectacular Road Atlanta road track in Georgia.
