Sandstorm in Bahrain

Sakhir, 11th February

After yesterday's fog, today there's sand. The test sessions in Bahrain seem to be pursued by bad luck, at least as far as the weather conditions are concerned. While the conditions were fair in the early morning - sun and temperatures around 20°C - around 9am the wind freshened and brought sand. Progressively the track got covered in sand and it was closed at 9:40am. Until then the fastest of the three drivers out on the track - Felipe Massa for Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro, Robert Kubica for BMW and Timo Glock for Toyota - was the Ferrarista with a lap time of 1.33.639 (17 laps), followed by his Polish colleague (1.34.398, 22 laps) und the German (1.34.902, 14 laps).

Today's menu Felipe had to complete was identical to yesterday's. testing different setups for the F60 in the morning and long stints in the afternoon. Yesterday's problems with the KERS have been resolved and it works well. The weather forecast for the rest of the day is not very encouraging: the wind might not stop and even if it did, the track had to be cleaned. There is the risk that the cars might not get back in the track today.
