Today at the International Mugello Circuit, the Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy crowned its first champion of the 2008 season: Riccardo Ragazzi, the twenty eight year old from Padua took the Shell Cup title for gentlemen drivers, with two races in hand. Alongside the F430 cars in the Italian one-make series, today's race card also saw action from the laboratory-cars entered in the exclusive FXX Programme: the Owner-Test Drivers drove a few test sessions for the first time on a European track, using the updated evolution kit.

The sixth round of the Pirelli Trophy ended with a fantastic double win for Niki Cadei (Rossocorsa.) Crossing the line in his wake in Race 1 were Giuseppe Ciro (Motor/Piacenza) and Giorgio Sernagiotto (Motor/Piacenza,) and in Race 2, Marco Mapelli (Rossocorsa) and again Giuseppe Ciro.
In the Shell Cup for gentlemen drivers, victory in the first race went to Massimo Mantovani (Motor/Malucelli,) followed by Riccardo Ragazzi (Ineco/MP Racing) and Tommaso Rocca (Rossocorsa,) while the second race saw Bulgarian Plamen Kralev (Kessel) a "guest" from the European series, stand on the top step of the podium, with Emilio Ferroni and Giovanni Cappelletti, both sporting the colours of Rossocorsa/Pellin, second and third respectively. Fourth across the line to take the title, as his points total cannot be beaten, was Riccardo Ragazzi.

The Italian series and the FXX cars will be back in action on the Tuscan track from 6th to 9th November, at the 2008 World Finals. The traditional closing event of the racing season will also stage the decisive rounds of the European and North American Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy, the Shell Ferrari Historic Challenge, practice sessions for the single-seaters supported by the FI Clienti department, a Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro display and on track demonstrations featuring the F430 GT cars.

Race 2 of the Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy will be repeated this evening on Sky Sport 2 at 23.45, Tuesday 23rd September at 20.00, Wednesday 24th September at 9.30 and 01.30. Race 1 can be seen again, still on Sky Sport 2 on Monday 22nd September at 9.30 and 17.00. As for the Shell Cup, that will be shown live at 12.05 and 16.05 with replays of Race 1 on Tuesday 23rd September at 9.30 and 17.00, Race 2 on Tuesday 23rd September at 01.30, Wednesday 24th September at 20.00 and Thursday 25th at 9.30.
