Ferrari Racing Days - Surprises and confirmation in Budapest

The Hungarian fans gave an enthusiastic welcome to the Ferrari Racing Days: on the final day of the event, held at the Hungaroring, over 15,000 spectators turned up to admire the F430 cars entered in the Italian and European series of the Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy and the historic cars in the Shell Historic Challenge, for a busy programme of races, as well as watching the free practice sessions featuring historic single-seaters, prepared by the FI Clienti department in Maranello.
In the Italian series of the Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy, Niki Cadei pulled off a fantastic double: the team Rossocorsa driver took top honours in Race 1, beating Andrea Gilardi (Warm Up) and Andrea Belluzzi (Motor), then in Race 2 he again beat Andrea Belluzzi and Giuseppe Cirò (Motor/Piacenza). Among the gentlemen drivers, the first across the line in Race 1 was Massimo Mantovani (Motor/Malucelli), followed by Riccardo Ragazzi (Ineco/MP Racing) and Benedetto Marti (Motor/Piacenza), who was then dropped to ninth when a post race investigation deemed he had jumped the start, thus promoting Sergio Rota (Rossocorsa/Rota). In Race 2, getting the better of Slovenian Nina Jerancic (AC-Maranello Auto) and Stefano Gai (Rossocorsa) was Riccardo Ragazzi, who thanks to this result now heads the classification in the Shell Cup.

In the European series of the Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy, Race 2 saw victory go to the German driver Bjorn Grossman (Autohaus Gohm) ahead of France's Nicolas Misslin (Stradale Automobile) and Max Blancardi (Motor/Malucelli.) As for the gentlemen drivers in the Shell Cup, the podium was made up of Walter Forer (Rossocorsa/Pellin,) Britain's Michael Cantillon (Ferrari GB Dealer Team) and the Bulgarian Plamen Kralev (Kessel.)
In the Shell Historic challenge second race for Grids A+B, for cars with drum brakes, the win went to Daniel Maier and his 1955 Maserati 300S, followed by Irvine Laidlaw at the wheel of a 1957 Maserati 250 S and Alexander Boswell driving a 1961 Ferrari 625 F1. The second Grid C race, for disc braked cars was dominated bt trhe 1972 Ferrari 312 PB of Irvine Laidlaw, who got to the line ahead of the 1966 Ferrari 412 P, driven by Peter Hardman. Behind this couple in third place was Jean Guittard at the wheel of a 1980 Ferrari 512 BB LM.
The F430s competing in the European series of the Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy and the historics entered in the Shell Historic Challenge, will be back on track at the Nurburgring in German, over the weekend of 4-5 October: this event will also feature the "owner-test drivers" taking part in the research and development programme run by the FXX department of Maranello, as well as the single-seaters prepared by the F1 Clienti department.
