Ferrari Racing Days - Gianniberti pulls away. Baron surprises

Misano Adriatico (Rimini), 13th July 2008

This was the final day at the Misano Adriatico Circuit for Ferrari Racing Days, the event which ran over the weekend featuring races in the fourth round of the Italian and European series of the Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy and further free practice sessions for the historic single-seaters prepared by the F1 Clienti department of Maranello.

In the main category of the Italian one-make series, Nicola Gianniberti took victory in the first race, which was characterised by numerous retirements and was complicated by debris on track: the Ineco/Ram team driver won ahead of Giuseppe Ciro (Motor/Piacenza) and Andrea Belluzzi (Motor.) As for the gentlemen drivers in the Shell Cup, Riccardo Ragazzi (Ineco/MP) took the victory, beating Massimo Mantovani (Motor/Malucelli) and Emilio Ferroni (Rossocorsa/Pellin/)

In the second Pirelli Trophy race, it was Nicola Cadei's turn to win again, after a close fight with Nicola Gianniberti, followed home, again in third place by Andrea Belluzzi, while in the Shell Cup, Benedetto Marti (Motor/Piacenza) crossed the line ahead of Riccardo Ragazzi (Ineco/MP) and Sergio Rota (Rossocorsa/Rota.)

Standing on the top step of the podium in the second race of the European series of the Pirelli Trophy was Philipp Baron: the Austrian Baron Service team driver took the chequered flag ahead of Germany's Bjorn Grossmann (Autohaus Gohm.) Third place went to Switzerland's Ronnie Kessel (Kessel Racing) with a Stewards' decision following post-race scrutineering. Of the F430 in the Shell Cup, top honours went to Bulgarian Plamen Kralev (Kessel,) followed home by Wido Roessler (Tamsen) and Italy's Walter Forer (Rossocorsa/Pellin.)

The Italian and European one-make series will be back in action over the weekend of 31st August at the Hungarian circuit near Budapest, on the same race card as the third round of the Shell Historic Challenge and another demonstration of the historic single-seaters prepared by the FI Clienti department of Maranello.

Sky Sport 2 will show repeats of Race 1 on Wednesday 16th July at 17h00 and Race 2 on Thursday at 17h00.
