Kralev, Baron and Mapelli emerge at Misano


The fourth race weekend of the season for the Ferrari Challenge started today at the Misano Adriatico circuit for the European and the Italian division with tests and a Free Practice session.
More than 70 cars went on the track today with summery weather, while the high temperatures were not to everybody's liking. Although the drivers showed their abilities and that they are ready for the races, which will start tomorrow with the first run of the Challenge Europe, while the Italian drivers will have their Qualifying.
Amongst the Gentleman Drivers of the Shell Cup Europe the Bulgarian Plamen Kralev of Kessel Racing set the fastest lap time with 1'44"608 and an average speed of 145, 43 Km/h, ahead of Cantillon (Ferrari GB Dealer Team) by almost three tenths of a second, followed by Forer (Rossocorsa/Pellin), Roessler (Tamsen), Gelf (Eberlein Kassel) and the Dane Nielsen (Formula Automobile).
Also in the European division, but this time in the Pirelli Trophy, the best lap time was driven by Philippe Baron (Baron Service) with 1'43"367 and an average speed of 147,18 km/h. Second best time of the session for the Italian Max Blancardi (Motor/Malucelli), almost two tenths of a second behind Baron, followed by Misslin (Stradale Automobile) ahead of Machiels (Ferrari Antwerpen).
In the afternoon the drivers of the Challenge Italia went on the track and Marco Mapelli (Rossocorsa), with a lap time of 1'42"340 and an average speed of 148,66 km/h, set the best time. Second for the leader of the Pirelli Trophy standings, Gianniberti (Ineco/RAM), three tenths of a second behind Mapelli. Third fastest time for Belluzzi (Motor), followed by Cadei (Rossocorsa) and the new-entry Andrea De Lorenzi (Rossocorsa/Pellin) , Sernagiotto (Motor/Piacenza) and Andrea Gilardi (Warm Up).
Amongst the competitors of the Shell Cup Massimo Mantovani (Motor/Malucelli) set the best time with 1'44"039, ahead of Sauto (Ineco) and D'Antuono (Motor).
Tomorrow will be an interesting day here at Misano with the Qualifying sessions of the Challenge Italia and Challenge Europe, the Formula One ingle-seater show by the F1 Clienti department of Maranello and the first two races of the European division.
