Ferrari racing days at Paul Ricard


The French Paul Ricard HTTT circuit at Le Castellet is this weekend hosting Ferrari Racing Days, including the third round of the Italian and European series of the Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy, which also sees in action the gentlemen drivers in the Shell Cup, as well as runs for the historic Formula 1 cars, run by the F1 Clienti of Maranello department. Also on the card, the second round of the European Shell Ferrari Historic Challenge, featuring 39 four wheeled historic jewels taking to the track.
Going into the French round, the Italian Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy, featuring the F430 car, is headed by Italy's Andrea Belluzzi (Team Motor,) on 108 points, while the leader amongst the gentlemen drivers in the Shell Cup is Benedetto Marti (Team Motor) on 119 points. As for the European series, Ange Barde (Team Modena Motors) leads the Pirelli Trophy on 104 points, with the GB Dealer Team's Michael Cantillon heading the Shell Cup on 109.
The Ricard track today hosted the first Driving Experience, the latest package from Ferrari when it comes to driving courses. The on-track action consisted of drivers coming off a Base Course, fine tuning their driving skills with help from Pilota Ferrari professional drivers and also included an exclusive opportunity to try an F430 Challenge, a real competition car and the 430 Scuderia, the most refined synthesis of a Ferrari sports car in road going trim.
The racing programme gets underway tomorrow, with the opening rounds of practice and qualifying. Saturday 31st consists of qualifying (first session at 09.00, the second at 12.55) and the first races in the European and Italian Pirelli Trophy and Shell Cup, which take place at 17.00 and 18.00 respectively, while the Historic Challenge race 1 for grids A and B, take place at 12.15 with grid C at 16.15.
The two races in the Italian Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy will be shown on Sky Sport 2, live at 9.45 (race 1) and at 14.30 (race 2,) with repeats at 19.00. Further repeats will be shown the following day, 2nd June at 17.00 and 23.30 on Sky Sport 2, 20.30 on Sky Sport 3 and at 01.00 on Sky Sport Extra.
