Waiting for the Scuderia, first Title decided at Mugello

Scarperia (Florence,) 26 October 2007

Today, the International Mugello Circuit hosted the first races of the 2007 Ferrari World Finals. The event, which brings the curtain down on the Prancing Horse's sporting season, will come to a close on Sunday 28 October, with a display by Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro. The key moment of the final day will also be a way of celebrating victory in both the Constructors' and Drivers' 2007 championships in the company of Kimi Raikkonen, Felipe Massa and the whole team.

This morning was completely given over to the final qualifying sessions for the Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy and the Shell Ferrari Historic Challenge, for Prancing Horse historic cars. Then in the afternoon, on a wet track, came the first races of the one-make series featuring the F430. For the rest of the weekend, the weather is reckoned to be a definite improvement, with clear skies on Saturday and Sunday.

In the Italian series, Niki Cadei (Rossocorsa) came out on top in race 1, while Giorgio Massazza (Rossocorsa) won not only his race but also the title in the Shell Cup. In the main category of the European series, Bjorn Grossman (Autohaus Gohm) was first past the chequered flag. Plamen Kraley (Rossocorsa) was the first of the gentlemen racers across the line. And finally, in the North American series, victory went to Roberto Fata (Ferrari of Long Island.)

Having their first run on the Tuscan track today were the single-seaters prepared by the F1 Clienti department, while tomorrow and Sunday they will do some demonstration runs. The Mugello circuit will also host the laboratory-cars that are used in the exclusive "FXX Programme," the future of which will be announced here at Mugello.

Completing the Ferrari party, Sunday also sees on-track demonstrations runs from the F430 GT cars that have given Ferrari the 2007 FIA GT2 Constructors' Cup, as well as a parade of cars representing 60 years of the Maranello marque, right up to the very latest 430 Scuderia.
