Double appointment for Ferrari at Spa


It will be an intense weekend for the Prancing Horse at the Belgian Spa-Francorchamps circuit which is staging the FIA GT 24 Hours race, which will see in action the F430 GT developed by the Maranello Corse Clienti department. Also on the card the fourth round of this season's European Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy. The event gets underway tomorrow, Thursday 26 July, with the first day of practice.
Going into the event in the Ardennes, the main class of the Ferrari one-make series, featuring the F430 Challenge cars, is headed by Ireland's Michael Cullen (team Rossocorsa,) ahead of Italy's Max Blancardi (Motor/Malucelli) and France's Ange Barde (Stradale Automobile.)
Currently leading the Shell Cup for gentlemen drivers in the same series is Monaco's Philippe Prette (Baron Service,) who leads Switzerland's Ronnie Kessel (Kessel Racing) and Lloyd La Marca (Stradale Automobile) second and third respectively.
As for the FIA GT championship, Ferrari tackles the "24 Hours" (the start is at 16h00 on Saturday) heading the GT2 Constructors' Cup with 126 points to Porsche's 57, and with three customer in the top places of the general classification in the category: Scuderia Ecosse and Racing Team Edil Cris are equal second on 31 points, behind AF Corse Motorola (71,) who, with their F430 GT cars crewed by Vilander/Mueller and Ortelli/Bruni have five wins in the five rounds held this year.
