A date at Mugello with Ferrari and Ferrari

A special date this weekend at the Mugello International Circuit (Florence, Italy) for the Italian Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy. The fifth round of this season's series, for the Prancing Horse's F430 cars also features the gentlemen drivers in the Shell Cup and this weekend takes place on the same card as the DTM championship.

On Sunday, the main day of the event will also see Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro take to the track for a demonstration run with test driver Luca Badoer at the wheel of a 248 F1.

A homonymous guest of the Maranello marque in the paddock, both in terms of her name and her sporting success, will be the young athlete Vanessa Ferrari, the first Italian to win the women's individual artistic gymnastics title in the 2006 World Championships, as well as taking the gold medal in the general competition and being free style champion in this year's European championships.

Tomorrow, Saturday 14 July, the programme gets underway at 9 with the initial qualifying sessions for the Ferrari one-make series in preparation for the races the following day. (all of this will be shown live on Sky Sport 2 from 9.10 in the morning to 14.00 in the afternoon.)

Going into the event, Vito Postiglione (team Motor/Malucelli) heads the Pirelli Trophy classification with a 35 point lead over Niki Cadei (Rossocorsa,) while the leader in the Shell Cup is Giorgio Massaza (Rossocorsa) who leads Sando Mucelli (Stile F Service) by 25 points.

The 2007 Challenge calendar ends as part of the Ferrari World Finals that take place at this Mugello track in Tuscany, from 24 to 28 October.
