The fascination of historic Ferraris at Le Mans

Maranello, 4 July 2007

The European series of the Shell Ferrari Historic Challenge (the other series is in North America) will be back in action this weekend for the third of its five rounds. The series dedicated to historic Prancing Horse cars, with Maseratis also eligible, will in fact be the main attraction of the "LM Story 2007" event, which takes place at the French Le Mans circuit.

In total, around 300 historic cars will be taking part this weekend recalling the fascination of another era, in races and exhibitions. The event gets underway on Friday 6 July, when free practice is on the agenda, before it steps up a gear on Saturday, with qualifying sessions in the morning and the first races in the afternoon.

The Shell Ferrari Historic Challenge as usual has a strong element of period dress which adds to the special atmosphere in the paddock, while on track, the A and B Grids (single-seaters and cars with drum brakes respectively) will this time race together, while Grid C (disc brake cars) will have separate races.

The Historic Challenge season comes to a close as part of the traditional Ferrari World Finals, that take place this year at the Mugello International Circuit, from 24 to 28 October.
