Comments after the HC Europe race at Mugello
Lukas Huni - Maserati A6GCS - "Owing to the very slippery track, it was hard and very tricky to last the distance. This is perhaps why the sense of satisfaction is even stronger than usual. In the first group B race I won my category. The car worked very well and I was also extremely pleased with my mechanics who found a perfect set up."
Stefan Schollwoeck - Maserati 6CM - "It was really hard overtaking Matt's Alfa in the first group A race. I had some problems with oversteer and he was going flat out. He managed to occupy the whole track and I was also often worried about running off the track if I tried anything. I even considered sneaking past on the grass but then I spotted an opening and decided to go for it. It was the right choice and I managed to get my wheels in front and fend off his counter attack. It really was a great race."
Peter Heuberger - Maserati 250F - "It is amazing to think of cars built before the war travelling so quickly. It is true that they have extra power and that the Alfa P3 puts out well over 300 bhp but it still never ceases to surprise me. It was a shame the engine problems ruled out Alexander Boswell's Ferrari. We have enjoyed some close battles in the past and I missed him today. I began race 2 quite cautiously but then realised that I might be able to overtake Stefan and win the race. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a way past him and spun. Luckily, I was able to hold onto second place."
Gigi Baulino - Maserati 250F - "It was an enjoyable weekend. Perhaps I could have done better but finishing on the podium in race two was satisfying. It is rather difficult for me to keep up with drivers like Peter Heuberger. This is because my 250F is a few years older, has a rigid suspension and not De Dion and has only four gears. I hope to improve next year and I am thinking of going into training in order to be more competitive."
