Second consecutive victory for AF Corse Motorola

Second round of the 2007 FIA GT Championship and a second victory in the GT2 class for the AF Corse Motorola team at Silverstone (England.)
After securing a one-two finish at China's Zhuhai circuit back on 25 March, the Ferrari F430 GT driven by Dirk Muller and Toni Vilander took a splendid win ahead of two other Ferrari F430 GT cars, also developed by the Maranello Corse Clienti department.
Unfortunately, the AF Corse Motorola sister car in the hands of Gianmaria Bruni and Jaime Melo (the latter standing in for Stephane Ortelli on this occasion) was hit by another competitor and forced to retire, while in the lead around twenty laps from the finish.

Fourth in the category was the Malucelli-Collard Porsche, while in fifth and seventh respectively were the F430 GTs of Mullen - Kirkaldy and the other driven by Nigel Mansell and Chris Niarchos.
For the record, the GT1 category was won by the Salo-Biagi Maserati, ahead of the Corvettes of Hezemans-Deletraz and Kumpen-Longin.
The next round in the series takes place over the weekend of 20 May, in Bucharest, Romania.
"Simply fantastic" said Dirk Muller after crossing the finish line. "The car was perfect and my thanks go to Michelin for the tyres and all the team. "Two wins in the first two races is great for the championship," commented Toni Vilander as he thanked the lads in the team for two great pit stops.
Jaime Melo: "I was pushed off as a car in front had some problems, I slowed slightly and from the right, I felt a slight touch, but it was enough for my race to end in the gravel."
"These things can happen but it's a shame because we were comfortably in the lead. I was ready to get back in the car but I was told Jaime was in the gravel. A real shame," commented Gianmaria Bruni.
