Ferrari - not only F2007: also F430 GT wins

The F2007 was obviously in the headlines after the victory at the Formula One Bahrain GP, although there is also another victorious Ferrari: the F430 GT. The Gran Turismo Championships are the stage of numerous successes for the House with the Prancing Horse, with a car developed by the Corse Clienti department.
Over the weekend the F430 signed a double success in the American and the European Le Mans Series. The first one does even bring the two worlds of Formula One and GT closer together, as the team consists of a Brazilian and a Finnish driver: Jaime Melo and Mika Salo (who is even a former member of the Scuderia Ferrari), under the colours of the Risi Competizione Team. They won in the GT2 category on the race track of Long Beach in California. Their F430 GT crossed the line in front of the Porsche, driven by Law/Long. That means three wins in three races. Overall winners were Bernhard/Dumas with a Porsche of the P2 category, in which no cars from Ferrari are listed.

As far as the European Le Mans Series ais concerned, the F430 GT controlled the situation with three cars on the podium of its category at the opening race of the season in Monza. Victory for De Simone/Hernandez/Bonetti (GPC Sport), and Caffi/Zardo (Scuderia Villorba) and Bell/Simonsen (Virgo Motorsport) on the second and third spot respectively.
The Peugeot prototype with Minassian/Gené finished first overall in the 1,000 km race. The GT competitions are one of the different motor sport activities of the Prancing Horse apart from Formula One. Over the next weekend the series starts on the World Circuit of Misano Adriatico, with the Italian and the European Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli-Shell Cup
