Ferrari 60 Relay: 248 F1 exhibition through the streets of Melbourne

Melbourne, 3rd March 2007

40,000 spectators gathered at the Australian metropolis to watch the 248 F1 driving through the streets of the city.

Ferrari test driver Marc Genč, who especially came to Melbourne from Maranello to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Ferrari with the Australians, drove down Lygon Street eight times in the Formula One car: a breathtaking spectacle in this famous Italian part of Melbourne, for which the street had been closed down.

In was a proper festival in the streets of Melbourne in honour of the car manufacturer from Maranello, which started in the morning with a parade in excess 40 cars from every era, driving through the main streets of the Australian city. Melbourne was another stage of the Ferrari 60 Relay Tour, started in Abu Dhabi at the end of January. The relay will end in Maranello in June, but until then, five continents will have been passed to reunite symbolically the "Red family" all over the world.

After passing the Middle East, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, Japan and Indonesia, the Ferrari 60 Relay will leave for New Zeeland from Sydney, where over 80 cars from Ferrari will celebrate its 60th anniversary.
