Star gets a blast from the past on new go- kart
LECCE (ANSA) - Ferrari's ex-Formula 1 world champ Michael Schumacher was back on the race track on Wednesday but only at the wheel of a go-kart.
The 37-year-old German star, who retired last year with seven F1 drivers' titles to his name, whizzed around the La Conca circuit near Lecce to test a new racing go-kart produced by northern Italian company Toni-kart.
Schumacher spent a long time explaining his assessment of the kart to the company's technicians and became so involved in the job that he did not even stop for lunch.
The former champ started his racing career when, as a boy, he took up driving go-karts in Germany.
