FIA GT HUNGARY - 01/10/2006 Zakspeed and Scuderia Ecosse victorious in Budapest

The nr 9 Zakspeed Saleen put in a fine performance at the Hungaroring, putting its bad luck in recent races behind it to cross the line 10 seconds ahead of the nr 4 GLPK Carsport Corvette C6, with the nr 23 Aston Martin Racing BMS DBR9 in third position.  A close race, where all but two cars were classified, there were some fine battles on the track throughout - including an impressive performance from the All-Inkl.com Racing Lamborghini Murciélago, Peter Kox leading a train including the two Maserati MC 12 and an Aston Martin for much of his stint.
In GT2, Scuderia Ecosse's duo of Andrew Kirkaldy and Nathan Kinch took the win, after problems in Dijon and Mugello.  After a first-stint battle with their team-mates Mullen and Niarchos, they finished ahead of AF Corse's Melo and Bobbi,  with the nr 63 third ahead of JMB GruppeM's nr 55, a last-stint leader until they had to make a final stop.
However, today also saw the Teams titles decided, with both Vitaphone Racing Team and AF Corse scoring enough points to make sure they cannot be caught by any of the other teams.  Congratulations to both Vitaphone in GT1, and AF Corse in GT2, for their consistent and impressive performances this season.
