The Maserati MC12s driven by Andrea Bertolini-Michael Bartels (Vitaphone Racing Team) today in the afternoon (Saturday 30 September) claimed third spot in qualifying at the Hungaroring. Tomorrow (Sunday 1 October) the eighth round of the FIA GT championship will take place at the Hungarian circuit. The time set by the number 1 Maserati MC12 at Budapest (1.42.750) is 0.716 seconds off the pace of the Saleen S7 R of Bert-Montermini-Janis. Eighth time for the other Maserati MC12, fielded by Vitaphone Racing Team, will be driven by Davies-Biagi. Despite the extra 105 kg on board, they managed to limt to gap to 1.587 seconds


Thanks to the free practice sessions held this morning, the Maserati MC12s have prepared well for tomorrow's 13.30 race. The reliability and speed of the Trident cars will be an advantage during the 3 hour (500 km) race. The Pirelli PZero Racing tyres will guarantee grip and consistency throughout and the drivers will be able to fully exploit the pace of their cars. Bertolini and Bartels will be able to defend their advantage over the Aston Martin of Piccini and Deletraz, while the Vitaphone Racing Team will have a chanche to further increase its lead in teh team standings. Tomorrow, 1° october, the three hour race will line up at 13.30.
