It was an intense day in the FIA GT3 European championship drivers as they started out on the fifth and final round of the new continental series at Mugello. Two free practice sessions were held today ahead of tomorrow.s two qualifying sessions and Race 1 . Saturday 16 September, at 12 and 18.10. Race 2 will be held on Sunday. Two Team AF Corse Maserati GranSport Lights will line up on the 42 car grid. They will be crewed by Roberto Sperati-Andrea Palma and Mariano Bellin-Andrea Demegni. Demegni will be making his first appearance in the Light but has competed in the Trofeo Audemars Piguet Maserati Europa driving the Pakelo VIP car.
Sperati-Palma concluded the first session with the best time of 2.05.179, Bellin-Demegni 2.06.999; in the second session the time was 2.02.248 for Sperati-Palma and 2.03.322.
Mugelli-Zani (Aston Martin DBR9) set the fastest free practice time of 1.57.386; Thompson-Allison (Ascari KZ1R) were quickest in session two (1.58.241).
