Lambo Racing continues successful racing: gained six top scores in its class out of seven races

After the qualifying session on Saturday morning when Lambo Racing was repeatedly caught by the yellow flag, the Gallardo had to start the race in 20th position on the grid. Starting driver Stephan Rösler, however, quickly made up a lot of ground, and after two hours the Gallardo led the SP8 class already by 86 seconds and had advanced into 12th overall. A damaged tyre then enforced an unscheduled pit stop, after which the Gallardo fall to 25th place overall and in 3rd place of the SP8 class.
"I had just entered the Grand Prix track when the car showed serious handling problems" ,
Stephan Rösler remembers,
"and when I looked into the left rearview mirror I could see a piece of the back tyre literally taking off and flying away. That's when I decided to head straight for the pit rather than to enter the Nordschleife. It turned out that the inside of the tread had virtually disappeared - the tyre was down to the metal belt."
The team used the pit stop to refuel the car and change drivers.
Bernd Haid in his stint was then able to drive the Gallardo through a short rain and much of the field into 15th place overall. Despite another refuelling stop 45 minutes from the end - when the wheels were changed for safety reasons - Lambo Racing was able to defend this position and took the chequered flag in 2nd place of the SP8 class.
"All things considered, we are quite happy with the result" ,
commented Herbert Lingmann, leader of the team that manages the Gallardo on behalf of Lambo Racing,
"second in our class is not bad on a day when so many things went wrong for us."
"Although we know that we were a bit lucky today as some of our competitors failed due to technical problems, we are happy that due to the reliability of our Gallardo we now managed the 6th top score in our class in our 7th race." ,
Rösler added.
