Sperati and Palma's GranSport Light in the top ten The fourth and penultimate round of the FIA GT European championship was wrapped up today with race 2. They were backed up by Benedetto Marti and Lorenzo Casč, fourteenth, and Mariano Bellin and Roberto Conte (who were forced to retire after being clipped when another car spun). In first came Edwards-Keen (Porsche 997), Groppi-Seiler (Aston Martin DBRS9) and Bornhauser-Blanchemain (Dodge Viper).
In yesterday's race 1 (Saturday 2 September), Sperati and Palma's car came home in 13th place overall. In 26th came Bellin and Conte with Benedetto Marti and Lorenzo Casč in 28th. On the podium came Blanchemain-Bornhauser (Dodge Viper), Ceccato-Livio (Dodge Viper) and MacHitsky-Cocker (Aston Martin).

The final FIA GT championship race will be held at Mugello on 17 September.

Andrea Palma
"I began race 2 but the safety car was on the track from the first lap and stayed there for twenty minutes. So, when I started to enjoy myself, it was time to come in for the pit stop. Before the pit stop, I was battling hard with Lorenzo Casč for 12th and 13th. I would have liked to have continued but I am happy that my team mate, Sperati, did superbly to come home in a high position".

Roberto Conte
"Unfortunately, I could not avoid the contact and this forced me to retire. A Lamborghini ahead of me suddenly spun and though I tried to get past, his rear end damaged the front left of the car and I could not continue".
