Six Ferraris in the top six at Paul Ricard in the FIA GT2

Maranello, 21st August 2006

A historic result for Ferrari in the arena of international Grand Touring racing. Six F430 GTC cars, developed by Maranello's "Corse Clienti" department took all six top places in the GT2 classification of the fifth round of the 2006 FIA GT championship, run at the French Paul Ricard HTTT circuit.

Scuderia Ecosse did the double taking the top two places with the crews of Kirkaldy/Kinch and Franchitti/Mullen, with third place going to the JMB Racing car of Sugden/Alexander. The Italian AF Corse team also did well, with Bobbi/Melo and Salo/Aguas in fourth and fifth places respectively, despite the penalising ballast imposed by the regulations, following victory in the Spa-Francorchamps 24 Hours.
Sixth at the flag was the F430 GTC of Sundberg/Romero (RSV Motorsport,) heading home the first of several Porsches, the first of these driven by Kaufmann/Moro.

Thanks to this performance, Ferrari further consolidates its lead in the FIA GT2 Constructors' Cup, increasing the gap to the German marque.

In GT1, where no Prancing Horse cars were entered, top honours went to the Corvettes of Longin/Kumpen/Hezemans and Menten/Belloc. Third and seventh respectively were the Maseratis of Davies/Biagi and Bartels/Bertolini.

The next round of the FIA GT series takes place in two weeks at Dijon (France,) prior to the Italian round at Mugello over the weekend of 17th September.
