German GP - Felipe Massa: "A great future in Formula 1"

Like his team-mate, Felipe Massa has already had a packed schedule here in Germany for this Sunday's race. The Brazilian arrived on Wednesday to take part in the annual charity soccer match that Schumacher's management company organises, with all the proceeds from the 15,000 spectators going to the UNESCO children's organisation. Then, at lunchtime today Felipe and Michael attended a promotional event open to the public in the centre of nearby Heidelberg, on behalf of team sponsor, Vodafone.
Finally, the track-based part of his job got underway this afternoon at the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro Media motorhome, when he faced the press. The first question revolved around the need for the two Ferrari men to work as a team to try and beat their nearest rivals. "Of course, we have to always work as a team," began Felipe. "Because we are in a situation where we are fighting with the same team race after race. So, in order to pick up as many points as possible we have to work together. Michael is totally committed to trying to win the championship and I am a hundred percent motivated to try and win the Constructors' championship for the team and get ahead of Renault. We are always trying to work together."
Massa has a clear picture of what his own personal goals can be. "There is a very big points difference and so I cannot realistically win the Drivers' title, but if we can win as a team and if I can come third among the Drivers, then I really want to try and achieve those targets." Felipe is now two thirds of the way through this his first season partnering Michael Schumacher. What has it been like for him, having to measure up against one of the greatest drivers of all time? "You know, if you are always quicker than your team-mate, life is easy," suggested Massa. "So going up against Michael is really motivating as I am always trying to beat him."
As it had done with Michael an hour earlier, the subject of Felipe's future plans was raised. "I am expecting to have a great future in Formula 1," he began. "But it is too early to talk about that future, so you will have to wait a month or so!" Massa found it easier to deal with his ambitions for this coming weekend. "Of course, my goal is always the same - to win. And if I could take my first win here it would be fantastic. But at the least, I will be aiming to be on the podium and take as many points as possible away from Renault."
