WTCC - BRAZIL - Driver quotes

Race winners Jordi Gene and Andy Priaulx along with a selection of other drivers give their comments on the races.
Andy PRIAULX – 8th in Race 1, 1st in Race 2
“Qualifying is so close this year you can have a good car and be 19th or 20th on the grid. I was pleased to be at the front of the second race because it looked a bit crazy back there. Gianni (Morbidelli) was very quick and passed me in the first race and then I was in 8th place and I knew I couldn't afford to make a mistake. Jörg was behind me so it was pretty tough. The second race was even tougher because I made a break and was getting into a rhythm before the safety car. Then after I got a good re-start I thought, ‘Phew!' but it happened again. At no point did I think I had the race won because it was one of those races where you could easily slip back.”
Jordi GENÉ – 1st in Race 1, 14th in Race 2
“We had a very good car, SEAT did well in qualifying and overall it was a good weekend because we scored important points. The second race was a bit too crazy and I don't think it was a suitable standard of driving for a world championship.”

Peter TERTING – 2nd in Race 1, 6th in Race 2
“This weekend has been really good for me. The first race was fun and I had success in finishing 2nd behind Jordi. In the second race I had a better car and was faster but due to the disruptions I was unable to push forward. The next race is Mexico and I won there last year so I am optimistic.”
Gianni MORBIDELLI – 7th in Race 1, 1st in Race 2
“Am I happy? Absolutely. It has been a fantastic weekend for me and I have to thank Alfa Romeo. It is pleasure to be here and at the top again after some years. I hope to stay in podium positions for the rest of the season.”
Augusto FARFUS – 3rd in Race 1, DNF in Race 2
“I'm very happy because to race at home is a pleasure and to finish 3rd and score points is great. The second race was frantic and I had an accident which put an end to my race. I think the event and track here could be improved but we must remember it was the first visit from the WTCC and people have learned a lot. For me and Alfa Romeo it was a good weekend.”
Alessandro ZANARDI – 10th in Race 1, 3rd in Race 2
“Yesterday was a bad day for me. The team gave me a great car for qualifying and I felt I had the potential to qualify in the top five but I threw it away on the first lap. To say that starting from last and working my way up was ‘interesting' is an understatement. I believe I fought a very aggressive but clean race; I don't have a single scratch on my car. I'm extremely pleased with today's results, no doubt about it.”
Tom CORONEL – 14th in Race 1, 11th in Race 2
“It was a bit difficult starting from the back but it was really exciting because I saw cars and parts flying everywhere. When you are a racer you need to race and winning 10 seconds ahead of everybody is boring. I had a good fight with Rangoni and I managed to overtake him and controlled it from there.”
Ryan SHARP – 12th in Race 1, 12th in Race 2
“I have had a really great weekend. I feel we've made a big step forward both with myself and the car with the help of Fabrizio Giovanardi. I now feel I belong in this championship and we know the car is fast in Mexico so I am looking forward to that. From now on I have to aim to be in the top 10 and challenge Tom a bit more.”
