Bartels/Bertolini fastest in free practice at Oschersleben

The Vitaphone Racing Team MC12 topped the timesheet in the first free practice session in Germany.
Michael Bartels stopped the clock at 1'22"527, beating the time set by Piccini/Deletraz's Aston Martin by 65 thousandths and the Saleen driven by Bert/Janis by three tenths. Fourth was the other MC12, with Biagi/Davies on board, in a time of 1'23"575.
A lot of work was carried out on the tyres, particularly the soft Pirelli P Zero Racing sets that were developed after the recent tests at Mugello. The new tyres proved competitive and reliable, as shown by the times set by the MC12 drivers.
Tomorrow at 9.40 the second 90 minute free practice session will be held. The qualifying stint, lasting twenty minutes, will take place at 15.25.
