Weekend with over four hundred Ferraris at Spa and Montreal

Spa, 23rd June 2006

Over 400 road-going and competition Ferraris will be running at the same time at the circuits of Spa-Francorchamps and Montreal this weekend.

The key event of this red weekend is the Ferrari Racing Days in Belgium, where around 200 Granturismo cars owned by customers of the marque will put on a show as the FXX make's its first European appearance. Only 29 of this high performance model have been built, of which seven will be at Spa. They are part of a special research and development programme run by the Ferrari Corse Clienti department, managed and updated by the company along with this unique group of "Test Drivers" made up of some of the Prancing Horse's most enthusiastic and loyal customers.
The Ardennes circuit also hosts a sessions of free timed laps for single seaters prepared by the Maranello F1 Clienti department. Worth singling out is a 1975 ex-Lauda 312 T and an ex-Schumacher F2004.

The competitive part of the Belgian event features the European series of the Shell Ferrari Historic Challenge, which since 1999 has been opened to allow for the participation of historic Maseratis too. Also taking place is the Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy, the series which for this year only still allows for the participation of a few 360 Modenas, alongside the new F430. In the main category of the one-make series, France's Ange Barde (Modena Cars Racing,) arrives at Spa leading the classification, with Dutchman John Bosch (Barron Racing/Kroymans) and British driver Ross Kaiser (Ferrari GB Dealer Team) in second and third places respectively. Currently heading the Shell Cup for gentlemen drivers is Germany's Dennis Huebner (team Baron.)

The Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy is also on the race card in Montreal with the cars competing in the North American series running at the "Gilles Villeneuve" circuit as part of the Canadian Formula 1 Grand Prix meeting.
