JGTC challenger runs in the streets of Kuala Lumpur!

First-ever demonstration runs on public roads in Malaysia

With less than a week to go before the "JAPAN GT CHAMPIONSHIP MALAYSIA", the fourth round of the 2006 AUTOBACS SUPER GT, fans were treated to the spectacle of a JGTC-spec Skyline GT-R conducting demonstration runs on the streets of the Malaysian capital. For a full-fledged race car to be doing such stints is a first on Malaysia's public roads.

As a result, a huge number of Kuala Lumpur's citizens turned out to watch the event, the looks on their faces telling of their immense surprise.

The GT-R left Kuala Lumpur's Times Square at 14:30 local time, running with a speedy motorcycle police escort, crossing through traffic lights without any hint of slowing down. Unfortunately, there was a premature end to the festivities when a sudden squall flooded part of the scheduled route.

The driver of the car was the man who will take the wheel of the No. 22 MOTUL AUTECH Z from the fourth round of SUPER GT, Richard Lyons. The car he was driving on this occasion was from before SUPER GT, a 2003 JGTC-spec Skyline GT-R.

Richard Lyons: "This really was a lot of fun! I was surprised because the people who lined the route just gawped in awe! I definitely want to have the chance to do this again." he commented happily afterwards.
