FIA GT - Brno described by Bertolini and Biagi

28/05/2006 - Brno - The two Vitaphone Racing Team drivers lead us around the Czech circuit.

Brno, in the Czech Republic, is a circuit that has evolved much over the years. From its original 28 kilometres, it now measures 5.403 km. Even today, driving along the state road that connects the city of Brno to the circuit, it is possible to catch a glimpse of the old pit lane facilities, still in remarkably good condition.

There are no longer any traces of the original track in the current layout. However, the Czech circuit is still one of the drivers’ favourites. The wide track allows for different trajectories and, consequently, much overtaking.

With only one truly demanding curve, the circuit has a series of brief, mostly slow, straights and chicanes.

It is a track “that reminds me of Mugello”, revealed Thomas Biagi, “with its ups and downs, changes of direction, third gear esses and stretches that have to be steered through. The circuit is a good one, even if there are no fast curves. In terms of set up, you have to prioritise the changes of direction and adopt a stiff ride”. Andrea Bertolini reflected on the effect of the ballast seeing as his MC12 would have an extra 65kg on board. “This is one of the tracks on which the layout heavily affects those cars carrying extra weight. The ups and downs and the swift curves at Brno do not help these cars”.
