Ferrari Challenge in action at Vallelunga this weekend

The Roman circuit of Vallelunga this weekend hosts the third round of the Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy. The 2006 series features the new F430 and is held over six rounds, prior to concluding as part of the Ferrari World Finals, at Monza, from 25th to 29th October, an event which also features the usual salute to its fans from Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro.
At Vallelunga, all of Saturday is given over to practice sessions (from 8.50 almost continuously through to 17.20) in preparation for Sunday's endurance races, starting at 10.15. The formula for the races includes compulsory pit stops, to add to the spectacle and excitement even in the pit lane.
In the Pirelli Trophy, Andrea Belluzzi (Motor,) is on a roll after doing the double at Misano Adriatico and comes here as the new leader of the classification, with Vito Postiglione (Stile F) and the Livio/Montani (Rossocorsa) duo in second and third places respectively.
Currently, leadership of the Shell Cup for gentlemen drivers is still in the hands of Cristian Francescon (Forza Service,) ahead of the Sauto/Prinoth (Ineco) crew and Cappelletti/Ferroni (Rossocorsa/Pellin.)
Lorenzo Bontempelli (Rossocorsa) is currently heading the separate class for the 360 Modena cars, that are still part of the Prancing Horse one-make series for one final year.
Alongside the Challenge, this circuit is also hosting the Italian Gran Turismo championship, which sees entries for the Ferrari 575 GTC and the F430 GTC.
Members of the Scuderia Ferrari Club will be able to attend the Vallelunga event at reduced prices, with the added opportunity for some of them of doing a few demonstration laps of the track.
