Not just F1: Ferrari also in action at Misano with Challenge and GT

Maranello, 11th May 2006

Over a hundred Prancing Horse cars will be on track at Misano Adriatico (Rimini) this coming weekend for the Italian Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy, the Italian GT championship and parades of Maranello customer road going cars. All of Saturday is given over to practice sessions (from 8.50 going all the way through to 17.20,) for Sunday's endurance race (as from 10.10.) Members of the Scuderia Ferrari Club will have access to grandstands and paddock at the circuit at reduced prices, as well as the opportunity for some of them to do demonstration laps of the track.

In the Ferrari one-make series, which features the new F430 Challenge, Vito Postiglione (Stile F) heads the points table in the main classification, with Giuseppe Cirò (Motor/Malucelli) and Quinto Stefana (Rossocorsa) are second and third respectively.

Provisional leadership in the Shell Cup, for gentlemen drivers, is Cristian Francescon (Forza Service), ahead of the crew of Sauto/Prinoth (Ineco) and Cappelletti/Ferroni (Rossocorsa/Pellin.)

Lorenzo Bontempelli (Rossocorsa) currently heads the separate classification for those driving the 360 Modena Challenge, eligible to race for one more year.

As for the Italian Grand Touring championship, after the opening round at Imola, the Ferrari 575 GTC of Kessel/Chiesa (Loris Kessel Racing) heads up class GT1, ahead of the Chrysler driven by Pandini/Sabatini and the Maserati of Vilander/Giannoccaro.

In the GT2 category, which also features Porsche, the Ferrari F430 GTC cars of Zardo/Caffi (Villorba Corse), Maceratesi/Cadei (Playteam-SaraFree) and Pasini/Bobbi (Victory Engineering) currently occupy the top three positions.
