2006 » FIA GT3 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP » Silverstone - The first round of the FIA GT3 European Championship wrapped up

With Race 2 at Silverstone, the FIA GT3 European Championship was concluded. The series is one in which the AF Corse and GPC Sport Maserati GranSport Lights take part. Driving for AF Corse are Sperati-Palma, Cerrai-Alessi and Casč-Passuti with Arlotti-Cutrera and Gini-Barbaro turning out for GPC Sport. At the end of the second race, the top placed Maserati was one driven by Cutrera and Arlotti which finished in 23rd in a race conditioned by the rain.
In 30th place was the Barbaro-Gini crew, with Passuti-Casč in 32rd. Alessi-Cerrai were forced to pull out after running off on the fifth lap. Sperati-Palma also retired after clashing with another car soon after the start. This result has to be considered together with that of Race 1 where all five GranSports finished the race. Palma and Sperati ended a fine 16th overall, followed by Arlotti-Cutrera (23th), Cerrai-Alessi (26th), Casč-Passuti (29th) and Gini Barbaro (31st).

The GranSport Lights fully lived up to their pre-race billing.
The next FIA GT3 championship event will be held on 2 July at the German Oschersleben circuit.
