FIA European GT3 Championship: Race 1 - Good start for the Maserati GranSport Lights

With the qualifying session and Race 1, at Silverstone started today (Saturday 6 May) the first round of new FIA European GT3 Championship, where are involved 5 Maserati GranSport Lights. With the colours of AF Corse team went on track Roberto Sperati-Andrea Palma, Alberto Cerrai-Diego Alessi and Lorenzo Casč-Christian Passuti; for GPC Sport team, Giuseppe Arlotti-Paolo Cutrera and Fabrizio Gini-Bruno Barbaro. All the five Maserati GranSport Lights finished the 60 minutes of the race, with bad weather and track conditions: from wet to dry tarmac after the second part of the race. The best Maserati GranSport Light was with the crew Palma-Sperati, in 16th overall between 38 cars at the finish. Than Arlotti-Cutrera (23rd), Cerrai-Alessi (26th), Casč-Passuti (29th) and Gini-Barbaro (31st). On the podium, first place for Lester-Simonsen (Ferrari), in second Deverikos-Edwards (Porsche) and third Scott-Collins (Ascari).

At the start of Race 1, Alessi was very fast and from 18th position conquered the sixth. Than he lost some seconds because went out of the road. Very good Sperati, in the eight place till the pit-stop. Arlotti and Cutrera GranSport' obtained the fastest lap of "Maserati group".

Tomorrow (Sunday 7 May) will be the Race 2 at 11.45
