Phoenix fastest in free practice 1

The first free practice session for the 2006 FIA GT Championship got underway this afternoon, with the Phoenix Racing Aston Martin DBR9 of Andrea Piccini and Jean-Denis Deletraz setting the best time, a lap of 1:44.931. The Vitaphone Racing Team Maserati MC 12 of Biagi and Davies was second fastest, 1.2 seconds behind, with the nr 9 Zakspeed Saleen of Bert and Janis in third. GT2 was dominated by the Ferrari 430 GT2 cars, occupying the top five positions, with Scuderia Ecosse in the lead. Ebimotors was sixth, ahead of the LNT Panoz.
