JGTC - Round3 Fuji : Qualifying

In the qualifying sessions for the AUTOBACS SUPER GT Round 3, the FUJI GT500KM held on May 3 at the Fuji Speedway (4.563km) in Shizuoka Pref., the ZENT CERUMO SC machine driven by Yuji Tachikawa won the poll position and will start from the front row position in the final race on the 4th.
Tachikawa has won seven pole positions here at the Fuji Speedway over the years, proving that few know how to run this course like he can. After recording the top time in the first qualifying session, Tachikawa went into the Super Lap session (individually run timed lap) for the top ten qualifying machines and once again ran almost a full second faster than the 2nd place machine with a 1 min. 33.169 sec. lap. This gave Tachikawa his 11th career pole position in GT racing, a new record for the most PPs ever for a single GT driver.
In the GT300 class, Hiroki Kato drove the Privée Zurich APPLE Shiden machine to a fastest-in-class 1 min. 42.889 sec. lap. This gave the Shinden team their first pole position in only their third GT competition.

Comments by the pole position winners
No. 1 ZENT CERUMO SC [GT500]
Yuji Tachikawa: "I am very happy to have set a new record for most pole positions by a GT driver. My goal for the season is to win the championship title, but this pole position record was another goal I had my sights on, so it's very gratifying. With this, I have cleared the first hurdle toward winning tomorrow's race. Now all I have to do is go out and win tomorrow and get a good momentum going for the season ahead."
No. 2 Privée Zurich APPLE Shiden [GT300]
Hiroki Kato: "I wasn't thinking about winning the pole position because we are still in the process of developing this machine and working on one issue at a time. I was surprised that the other machines weren't getting faster times. At the SUPER GT Official Test at Fuji we were able to run a long test that served as a good race simulation, so I'm looking forward to tomorrow's race."
