Ferrari at Hockenheim with F1 demonstration and the first Historic Challenge races

Hockenheim, 29th April 2006

The Jim Clark Revival, one of the most prestigious international events for historic cars, got underway today at the Hockenheim circuit in Germany. The Maranello company is represented through its Ferrari Corse Clienti department. The Prancing Horse single-seaters, maintained by the F1 Clienti group, now that their racing career is behind them, put on an exciting and spectacular show for the large crowd in the paddock and grandstands of the German circuit, along with the historic cars competing in the European Shell Ferrari Historic Challenge.

This was the curtain raiser for the continental series and it was Max Werner's 1955 Maserati 300 S which took the first win in the race for single-seaters (grid A) and sports-prototypes and GT cars fitted with drum brakes (grid B.) In second place came another example of the same car, driven by David Franklin, finishing ahead of the1958 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa, driven by Gary Pearson.

From the grid made up of cars with disc brakes, (grid C,) victory in race-1 went to the 1981 Ferrari 512 BB LM brought to the track by John Bosch, who crossed the line ahead of the 1966 Ferrari 412 P of Peter Hardman and the 1981 512 BB LM of Massimo Sordi.

Tomorrow is the main day of the meeting, with the final events on the card getting underway from 9.20.
