Police find man in boot after hand spotted poking out (ANSA) - Belluno, April 14 - A jealous Italian husband had his cover blown on Friday when his hand was spotted poking out of the boot of his wife's Fiat 500 .

The man told police he jumped into the tiny boot when his suspicions about his wife's movements became unbearable .

"It was the first thing that came to mind," he said .

Unfortunately for his surveillance effort, he was unable to squeeze completely into the trunk and was forced to keep one hand out, clinging onto the back of the car .

The police were called in by an alarmed petrol attendant who noticed the hand as the wife drove away from his gas station .

They caught up with the car outside a shopping mall where the wife had parked .

The husband had been poised to follow his spouse into the building but the police got to the car boot while he was still in it, foiling his bid to catch his wife in flagrante .
