BRITISH GT - Reigning Champions Prepare to Defend British GT Title

10/04/2006

Reigning  British  GT  Champions  Scuderia  Ecosse  will  begin  the  defence  of  their  2006  title  at  Oulton Park this Easter weekend.  Both Chris Niarchos and Tim Mullen are eager to get back on track after a long winter of preparation.

Chris Niarchos: “I can’t wait to start the new British season. Oulton Park is a great track so it’s good that we’re going back there after a year away.  It has a little bit of everything and with the Ferrari being  so  nimble  it  suits  us  perfectly.  The  Ferrari  430  is  an  awesome  car  and  it  has  run  faultlessly straight  out  of  the  box.    So  far  the  Avon  tyre  development  has  been  disappointing  so  it  will  be interesting  to  see  how  things  go  at  Oulton.  Even  with  all  the  information  we  have  at  our  disposal there’s only one way to know how competitive you are and that is to get out there and race!”

Tim Mullen: “This is an important year for Chris and I as it’s our best opportunity to take the British title. We’ve been working hard to get to know the 430; we would have liked a few more weeks with the car but it is so new that’s not possible. The first race is always a bit of a lottery so it’s hard to say how competitive we’ll be. We’re also unsure of the Avons so let’s get the first weekend done and see where we are up to.”

Stewart Roden: “This is going to be a very busy year for Scuderia Ecosse what with British GT, FIA GT and Le Mans. We are very at home in the British Championship though so we know what we need to do.  As the guys said there are still a few unknowns so we need to start racing to see the level of competition. Chris has been training hard over the winter and is fitter than ever so I hope he can have a champion year!”
