20 Trofeo GranSport at Monza for the first race

The Trofeo Maserati Europa is now in its fourth year. This season, the main sponsor is the Swiss company, Audemars Piguet - a world leader in the production of luxury timepieces. The series is the best avenue into the world of Granturismo cars. The Trofeo Audemars Piguet Maserati Europa includes new features while leaving unchanged the formula that has enjoyed great success over the years.

The National Autodrome of Monza will, on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 April, host the first of seven races on the calendar. The event will see 20 Maserati GranSport Trofeos and 30 drivers take to the track. Ten of the cars will have a crew of two on board.

Among these is the 2005 champion Alberto Cerrai and the man who finished third, Maurizio Fabris. They will have to deal with noted names in motor-racing like Gian Marino Zenere as well as other new entrants in the Trofeo Audemars Piguet Maserati Europa.

The Monza weekend will see free practice take place on Friday 31 March (from 17 to 18), official qualifying on Saturday 1 April (Saturday 12.50 to 13.50) and the race itself on Sunday 2 April (from 13.25 to 14.15).

The Trofeo Audemars Piguet Maserati Europa races are linked to international events including the FIA GT Championship and World Turismo Championship (WTCC). After Monza, the Trofeo will move on to Silverstone (England, 7 May), Brno (Czech Republic, 28 May), Oschersleben (Germany, 2 July), Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium, 29 July), Mugello (Italy, 17 September) and Valencia (Spain, 8 October).

The car used is an improved and updated version of the Maserati GranSport Trofeo. The Maserati Corse technicians have paid close attention to the car's performance and reliability, the GranSport's real strength. All of these developments have been carried out in collaboration with our technical partners, in particular Pirelli, Campana, Pakelo, PTC and Toora

Among the other new features of the Trofeo Audemars Piguet Maserati Europa is the introduction of some 60 minute races and the penalties/bonus seconds based on the drivers' results. The aim is to generate open and hard fought races.
