Postiglione and Francescon do the double at Imola in Ferrari Challenge

Imola, 26th March 2006

The Imola (Bologna) circuit today hosted the first races of this season's Italian Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy, the one-make series now in its fourteenth year. Today's events marked the race debut of the new F430, which for this year only was joined on track by a few 360 Modena cars.

In the line up for the F430 cars, the main category saw Vito Postiglione (Stile F) secure a double win. In race-1, the Potenza driver crossed the line ahead of Quinto Stefana (Rossocorsa) and Andrea Belluzzi (Motor.) Then in the afternoon's race, he led home Giuseppe Ciro (Motor/Malucelli) and Fabio Santaniello (team Maranello.)

Cristian Francescon walked away with the spoils in both the Shell Cup races for gentlemen drivers, winning the morning's event from the crew of Prinoth/Sauto (Ineco) and Antonio Forato (Ineco/Ram.) In race-2, Prinoth/Sauto were once again on the podium in second place, with third going to Massimo Mantovani (Stile F.)

In the class for the 360 Modena, wins went to Giorgio Semagiotto (Motor) and Lorenzo Bontempelli (Rossocorsa.)

The Italian series of the Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy will be back on track over the weekend of 14th May at the Misano Adriatico (Rimini) circuit.
