Indian GP - The standard Friday routine

Greater Noida, 26 October

Red Bull has set the early pace in the second Indian Grand Prix weekend, as cars took to the track at the Buddh circuit for the first time this morning to begin the seventeenth round of the world championship. Sebastian Vettel was fastest in 1.27.619, followed by Jenson Button (1.27.929) in the McLaren and Fernando Alonso who was third in 1.28.044. In the other F2012, his team-mate Felipe Massa ended up seventh with a 1.28.542, at the end of a busy session given over to acquiring aerodynamic data and comparing various set-ups on the very slippery surface, down to the fact this track sees very little use. However, that situation should improve over the next few days and, as usual, the second free practice session will get underway at 14h00.
