Hungarian GP – New parts and not much grip

Hungaroring, 29 July

This morning saw the first free practice session for the Hungarian Grand Prix take place at the twisty Hungaroring circuit. Quickest on the dry, but particularly dirty track was Lewis Hamilton (1.23.350) in the McLaren, who finished ahead of Sebastian Vettel (1.23.564) in the Red Bull. First of the two Ferraris was Fernando Alonso, third quickest in 1.23.642, while in the other 150º Italia, his team-mate Felipe Massa was sixth in 1.24.115. Main item on the job sheet this morning was a comparison of various aerodynamic configurations, with both drivers running similar programmes, evaluating updated front and rear wings, while doing three runs on the soft tyre.

The second session takes place at 2pm at the Magyar track.
