It was an exciting weekend for competitors in the European Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli series at the Algarve International Circuit for the third round of their season. After yesterday’s spectacular night race, Sunday delivered another thriller from which Blancardi emerged victorious in the Trofeo Pirelli and Bachelier won the Coppa Shell.

Max Blancardi, a regular winner in the European one-make series, dominated the thirty five minutes of Race 2, which this year features the new 458 Challenge car. The Motor/Malucelli driver dominated the race after a great passing move on Philipp Baron (Baron Service) who had to retire with a technical problem and he crossed the line ahead of Alexandr Skryabin (Ferrari Moscow) and Alexey Vasiliev (Ferrari Moscow), thus maintaining the lead in the Trofeo Pirelli classification.


In the Coppa Shell, victory went to Jean-Marc Bachelier (Motor/Piacenza) fourth overall, followed by Dennis Andersen (Formula Automobile) and Drik Adamski (Baron Service), while in the class for the F430 Challenge cars, Holger Harmsen (Lueg Sportivo) came out on top again in Race 2, beating Gerald Grohmann (Warm Up) and Tommy Lindroth (Autoropa).

Competitors in the European series of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli will be back in action for a brand new round at the Le Mans circuit on 11 June, where they will be joined by the Italian series runners, taking part in one race with separate classifications, as a curtain raiser to the prestigious Le Mans 24 Hours.
