Plenty of action at Laguna Seca with the Ferrari Racing Days

California’s Laguna Seca circuit is hosting the second Ferrari Racing Days of the season and yesterday saw the first races in the North American Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli series and the Ferrari Historic Race Trofeo Shell. The spectacular circuit was also used by the cars entered in the non competitive programmes run by the Corse Clienti Department, who ran six historic F1 cars, three Ferrari FXX and seven 599XX, all driven by their owners during four sessions of untimed laps. In addition, at this special weekend, one hundred and twenty Ferrari owners got to drive their own cars as part of the exclusive “Excitement on track” programme.
There were twenty six cars in the first race of the North American series with Enzo Potolicchio (Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale) getting to the top step of the podium, ahead of Scott Tucker (Boardwalk Ferrari) and Harry Cheung (Ferrari of Silicon Valley.) Best of the competitors still running the F430 was Juan Hinestrosa (Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale) who was followed across the line by Christopher Ruud (Ferrari of Silicon Valley) and Ryan Ockey (Ferrari of Ontario.)
John Goodman won the Ferrari Historic Race Trofeo Shell at the wheel of his splendid 1979 512BB/LM, beating Peter Giddings in a 250 GT/Lusso and the 1962 250 GT of Jack Thomas/Jim Fuchs in this event that evokes times gone by.
The Ferrari Historic Race competitors will be back in action today at 10.35 for the 20 minutes of Race 2, while those running in the Stars and Stripes series of the Ferrari Challenge race again at 14.00 for the final thirty five minute race.
