Chinese GP – Work with an eye on the race

In the second session of free practice for the Chinese Grand Prix, Sebastian Vettel confirmed his supremacy from the morning, recording the best time (1.37.688) ahead of the McLarens of Lewis Hamilton (1.37.854) and Jenson Button (1.37.935). Felipe Massa’s 150° Italia was sixth with 1.38.507, while the other Ferrari of Fernando Alonso was further back after being forced into a long wait in the pits due to a hydraulics problem after only 11 laps. The Spaniard returned to the track with minutes to go before the end but he was unable to improve beyond 14th place (1.39.779).
Following the unusual morning programme, which was dedicated to evaluating different aerodynamic solutions as it was in Sepang, in the afternoon the team focused on comparing the two tyre compounds in preparation for Sunday’s race.
The third and final session of free practice will take place at 11am local time tomorrow morning.
