Chinese GP - More aero testing

The third round of the Formula 1 World Championship got underway this morning at the Shanghai circuit with the first free practice session.
The eighth running of this race got underway in dry conditions in higher than average temperatures for this time of year, around 27ºC. Sebastian Vettel set the pace for Red Bull with a 1.38.739 ahead of team-mate Mark Webber (1.39.354.) Next up was Lewis Hamilton who did a 1.40.845 in the McLaren. Felipe Massa did two runs in the 150º Italia, setting the sixth fastest time in 1.41.046, while team-mate Fernando Alonso only did one, on his way to twelfth with a 1.41.434. As was the case last week in Sepang, the team spent the morning comparing various aerodynamic configurations and on Alonso’s car it also ran an updated front wing. Both Ferrari men were able to use the usual extra set of hard tyres supplied by Pirelli.
The second session gets underway this afternoon at 2pm local time.
