Korean GP - Alonso first and Massa third on an unpredictable Sunday in Yeongam

Fernando Alonso took his Ferrari to victory in the first ever Korean Grand Prix, the seventeenth round of the Formula 1 World Championship at the brand new Yeongam circuit. The Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro man finished ahead of Lewis Hamilton in the McLaren and the other Ferrari of Felipe Massa. The race proved very unpredictable, starting behind the Safety Car then red flagged after just three laps because of the awful conditions. After a twenty minute break, the race resumed again behind the Safety Car, when conditions improved slightly and after a further fifteen laps the race saw a series of accidents and off-track excursions, which caused the retirement of no less than nine drivers.
Formula 1 will be back in action in Sao Paolo, Brazil, over the weekend of 7 November, for the penultimate round of this busy season.
