Singapore GP - Alonso fourth and Massa seventh on Friday at Singapore

Singapore, September 24 2010

Sebastian Vettel topped the timesheets at the second session of free practice for the Singapore Grand Prix, the 15th round of the F1 world championship that began today at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. Under more than 1,600 floodlights, which made the city circuit seem like it was in daylight, the German Red Bull driver set the pace (1.46.660) ahead of the sister car of team-mate Mark Webber (1.47.287) and the McLaren of Jenson Button (1.47.690).

Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari was fourth with a time of 1.47.718 despite a premature retirement when his engine stopped as he attempted to rejoin the circuit after going off the track, while Felipe Massa finished with the 7th best time (1.48.341).

The team carried out the aerodynamic comparisons that began in the morning session, sending the F10s of Alonso and Massa out onto the track both with and without the blown rear wing and swapping the configurations during the session.

The Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro team will have to wait to make its judgements about the data gathered today and the cause of Fernando’s technical problem. The third and final session of free practice is scheduled for tomorrow at 1900 local time.
