Baron European champion with one race to go

The sixth round of the European series of the Ferrari Challenge ended today at the French Paul Ricard HTTT circuit, with competitors in the Trofeo Pirelli and Coppa Shell taking to the track for two races with separate classifications.
In the category for the F430s entered in the Trofeo Pirelli, the first race ended in victory for pole sitter Philipp Baron (Baron Service) who crossed the line ahead of Bjorn Grossmann (Autohaus Gohm) and Max Blancardi (Motor Malucelli). The second event saw again the win go to Philipp Baron (Baron Service) who got the better of Bjorn Grossmann (Autohaus Gohm) and Max Blancardi (Motor Malucelli). Thanks to a great performance this weekend the driver of Baron Service team extended his lead in the classification to take the title in the European Trofeo Pirelli. In the Coppa Shell category, Alexsander Skryabin (Ferrari Moscow) took the flag in Race 1 ahead of Tibor Valint (Warm Up) and Wido Roessler (Baron Service), who finished second and third respectively. Tibor Valint (Warm Up) then took the win in Race 2, ahead of Wido Roessler (Baron Service) and Alessandro Vezzoni (Rossocorsa Pellin).

Following on from the weekend at Le Castellet, n Monday and Tuesday, fourteen 599XX cars, three FXX and twelve historic single-seaters will take part in private practice sessions at the French circuit. Among the Formula 1 cars in action on track, organised by Maranello’s F1 Clienti department will be some of the jewels of the Prancing Horse’s racing history: the 412 T2 that Scuderia Ferrari campaigned in the 1995 Formula One World Championship, the F300 driven to six wins by Michael Schumacher in 1998 and the F2001 with which the German champion took nine victories. Among the more modern cars, the amazing F2007 which brought both World Titles home for the Scuderia.
The next round for competitors in the European series of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli takes place at Valencia’s Ricardo Tormo circuit, which hosts the 2010 Ferrari World Finals from 26 to 29 November, the event which traditionally brings the curtain down on the Prancing Horse’s racing season. The event features the final rounds for the F430s entered in the Italian, European and North American series of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli.
